Teriyaki Steak Bites with Green Pepper and Onion

Who doesn’t want more steak in their lives? Cut it up in bite size pieces and enjoy it smothered in teriyaki sauce over rice. That’s what we call a good night!

Make it as spicy, with the red pepper flakes, or as sweet, with brown sugar, as you’d like! Paired with onion and green pepper it’s sure to be a hit!

Tips for this recipe:

  • Don’t over cook your steak. If you prefer a little pink in the middle, turn your heat down to medium high and watch the steak bites closely.
  • After you’ve combined the steak bites and vegetables at the end, you can take the pan off the burner and put a lid on for a few minutes to further combine the flavors.

Ingredients:

3 – 3 1/2 pounds cubbed thick cut top sirloin steaks
Olive Oil
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1 tablespoon corn starch
1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 sliced large green bell pepper
1 sliced large onion

Instructions:

  1. Start your rice in a rice cooker, pot, or instant pot!
  2. Cube steak into bite size pieces.
  3. In a bowl, whisk teriyaki, brown sugar, corn starch, sesame seed oil, garlic powder, garlic salt, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until brown sugar and corn starch are completely dissolved.
  4. Pour over steak bites and toss until evenly coated.
  5. Add olive oil into large skillet, enough to barely cover the bottom of the pan. Turn on high heat.
  6. Once pan is hot, fry steak bites in batches (4 – 6 minutes total). Flip steak bites half way through to brown both sides. Adjust cooking time and lower heat to medium high as needed. Add additional oil to pan between batches.
  7. Set cooked meat aside and add green pepper and onion to skillet. Sauté over medium high or until desired doneness ( 2 – 3 minutes). Add salt to taste. Do not clean pan between meat and vegetables as drippings will add seasoning.
  8. Add steak bites back to the pan and stir to combine.
  9. Spoon over rice and serve.
